  1. The new Capacitor Bank supplied shall comply with requirement of Electromagnetic Compatibility Standard: EN 50081-2, EN 50082-2, IEC 1000-4-5, EN 501010-1, EN 50439-1

  2. The new Capacitor Bank shall:
    1. Improves power factor > 0.95 lagging
    2. Be dynamic, fast response transient free operation
    3. Input Total Harmonic Current Distortion < 20%
    4. Reduce flicker and voltage drop
    5. Improves and stabilize voltage fluctuation
    6. Enable energy saving in system network
    7. Does not resonate with system inductance
    8. Use only static switching device
    9. Self-protect against adverse effect of harmonic
    10. Does not amplify harmonics
    11. Switching devices should be fuse-protected
    12. Only low loss < 2% series reactor should be used

  3. The ratings, kVars and number of steps of the new Capacitor Banks shall be the same as or better than those of the existing ones,

  4. The new Capacitors Bank must have the following features:

    1. The capacitor switching system shall be able to correct the power factor of the installation automatically.
    2. Several groups or steps (up to 12 steps) shall be able to be switched in simultaneously without having delay between each step.
    3. The switching mechanism shall utilize electronic switching elements instead of contactors.
    4. The capacitor groups shall be switched only during the current zero crossing point.
    5. Each group of capacitors shall be in series with inductors. Each inductor supplied shall be constructed with laminated low hysteresis loss iron core and have class H insulation.
    6. The controller unit shall have both automatic and manual modes of operation.
    7. Means shall be provided to prevent overcurent due to harmonics in the electrical system.
    8. The controller unit shall be equipped with a LCD controller to be able to measure and display:
      1. Target p.f. setting
      2. Instantaneous p.f. of the system
      3. Graphical and numerical display of harmonics content in the system up to at least 31st harmonics, Total Harmonic Distortion of the system voltage and current
      4. Instantaneous voltage, capacitor current, load current and instantaneous kW, kVAR consumption of each phase
      5. Number of capacitor groups connected at any time.
      6. Measurement should reflect those parameters at source, capacitor and load side.
      7. Equipped with a RS485 port.
    9. The controller unit shall have self-diagnostics functions to indicate the failure group of capacitors.
    10. The capacitors shall be low loss (0.25W/kVAR) type in cylindrical aluminium casing with self-healing properties and overpressure tear-off fuse.
    11. The capacitors shall be rated at 10% above system nominal voltage.

  5. Software for displaying the system's status and all network parameters measurement must be incorporated. This software must be able to run Windows environment with intranet and internet support capabilities.
