SAMPLING RATE, ACCURACY & SCALE
Special design of the analog part provides exceptionally accuracy, which is better than 0.1%. The analyzer is equipped with high precision 16 bit analog-to-digital converter with sampling rate of 250 kHz (4uSec) which allows up to 1024 samples per cycle.

All channels are sampled simultaneously, which prevents the need to make post-processing calculation of phase shifts between the channels. The result is optimal powers and energy calculations.

Each channel is sampled in two ways - normal scale (maximum 2x from nominal) and full scale readings (10x from nominal). Both ways operate on all channels (voltages and currents) at high accuracy.

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE
Special care was given to compliance with international and local power quality standards.

Harmonics are measured both with accordance to IEC-61000-4-30 and each cycle, in order to provide both compatibility and high-speed analysis. Voltage flicker is measured with accordance to IEC 61000-4-15 (10/120 minutes), but also each shorter periods (2 sec, 10 sec and others). The fast voltage flicker measurement allows fast analysis of flicker issues. All standards are easily reviewed in compliance checklist, such as the EN 50160 checklist.

MECHANICAL DESIGN & EXPANSION
A unique mechanical design allows unlimited distance between the power quality analyzer and the display, using Ethernet communication between them. Moreover, one display can monitor more than one meter and one meter can be monitored by more than one display.This flexibility allows selecting the only the necessary display and not spending money on unnecessary ones.

The meter itself is modular and allows connection of additional modules simply by pile other modules. The storage media (standard Compact Flash) is protected inside the unit, while additional CF slot is available for other expansion, such as GPS, WiFi or Bluetooth.

CONNECTIVITY
The analyzer supports many communication types and protocols. Two fast Ethernet (10/100), RS-422/485 (2 and 4 wires) and USB ports allows local and remote connation. Additional ports and I/Os can be added using extension module or to utilize one of the compact flash sockets.

The Ethernet ports allows large variety of protocols

  • Conventional TCP/IP based data packaging protocol, provides communication protocol for traditional TCP/IP supported software.
  • Web server allows usage of standard Internet browser, such as Microsoft Explorer, to monitor the network. The web server is very comprehensive and provides access to all meter functionality.
  • Onboard OPC (OLE for Process Control) servers offer seamless integration to OPC supported products, such as most SCADA systems. The SCADA system retrieves all available information automatically from the OPC server. The analyzer supports for OPC Data Access (DA) for continues real time readings and OPC Alarms & Event (AE) for alarms and events notifications on demand.

The RS-422/485 supports both 2- and 4-wire configurations. In addition to simple serial communication to the meter, it provides connecting legacy products to the Ethernet using the serial-bridge feature. In this way the legacy product is communicated through the meter Ethernet port.

POWER SUPPLY
In order to compete with temporary power failures 5+ second ride through is provided. When power fails the meter internal source provides the required energy for 5 seconds. This allows overcoming on temporary outages or safely logs the failure event.

The power supply includes Power over Ethernet (PoE) feature, which delivers the supply voltage over the Ethernet cables. The meter supports both PoE power device (used to receive power from other source) and PoE power source (used to deliver power to other unit). The power source can be used to deliver the power from the meter to its remote display.
